The Shadwell Shoot

Set across more than 6,000 acres of managed, gently undulating Norfolk countryside, the Shadwell Shoot offers excellent driven pheasant and partridge shooting. Run with care by Head Keeper Robert Wingrove and Shoot Manager Mandy Forber, the team at Shadwell deliver with warmth and hospitality that defines a day in the field at its best.

A day to remember

The Breckland landscape provides a natural stage for exceptional Norfolk sport. Thirty carefully managed drives make use of the estate’s varied terrain – open arable ground, high hedges, shelter belts, woodland and heathland – and those special wide skies. Days are available for full teams throughout the season, with partridge from September and Pheasant from October, through to the end of January. We also have duck shooting opportunities and from time to time may offer individual peg days, whilst gundog days and deer stalking are available by prior arrangement.

We can arrange a shoot day to suit your requirements. To enquire about availability or to book a day, please get in touch with the shoot team.

Shoot 2

Managed with the land in mind

The shoot is run as an integral part of the wider estate. Game management, habitat creation and conservation are a responsibility taken seriously, and work hand in hand to produce an estate alive with nature.

Nowhere is it more evident than on Brettenham Heath nature reserve, managed in partnership with Natural England. The heath is a vital breeding ground for the stone curlew and common curlew populations. The protection of these birds is a key consideration in the estate’s year-round management.

At the heart of it all is our Head Keeper Robert, who grew up on the estate and has spent most of his life working at Shadwell. Few people know this ground as well – and that knowledge and care runs through everything we do.

Shoot 1

Every detail considered

Shadwell Estate has been welcoming teams of Guns for many years and beyond the sport itself, a day at Shadwell is an occasion. Guests are welcomed to our private shoot lodge for refreshments, before boarding our shoot trailer and heading out into the field.

With the shoot day catering available through the day, it is only natural that pheasant, partridge and venison from the estate finds its way on to the menu, which makes the post shoot lunch feel genuinely rooted in the day and the land around it.

Whilst a shoot day package includes catering for 10, for an additional charge and prior arrangement, we can welcome your extra guests, with a dining table that can comfortably sit 22 diners.

From arrival to the final toast, the aim is simple: to make it a day worth remembering.
